Events
One of the biggest mass participation cycling events in the world has set itself out in a challenge this year : to have the cleanest edition so far.
Cycling is extremely popular in Belgium and the number of organized events every weekend grows year by year. The « traffic » of thousands of cyclists crossing small, historic towns, is not always seen as very positive. Lately, the term « cycloterrorist » came to use, as a criticism to the bad behaviour of certain cycle-tourists.
The organizers of the Tour de Flandres have committed themselves to help change that image through their event. Educational campaigns as well as waste management and catering initiatives are being put in place this year.
When one of the finest cycling events in the world joins forces with its 20.000 participants for the environment, everybody wins.
